In Lund city center you will find a unique and exciting museum. The Museum of Sketches was founded in 1934 and the intention was to establish an archive of the creative process, or the path of the artist from the first idea to the finished work. Each process is unique, and both the scale and the materials vary – from a hastily scribbled paper sketch to large cast models, from the early 1900´s to our present time. The museum consists mainly of three main collections – the Swedish, the Nordic and the International collection.
There are many art galleries in Lund showing Swedish and international contemporary art. Visit for example Krognoshuset which is one of the few buildings remaining from Lund Middle Ages. The oldest part is considered to be from the 1300 century. The house has been extended and remodeled in different phases as well as its use has varied through time. Now it's the new and young art that fills and gives life to Lund's best preserved medieval houses. Sedan1929 have Aura Art Association, founded by a group of artists and art lovers in 1928, conducted exhibitions in Krognoshuset.
On the square Mårtenstorget right in the center of Lund you will find Lund Art Gallery. The gallery opened the first of September 1957 and has since then had high-profile exhibitions. Entre is free of charge and has contemporary art exhibitions and shows around four to five exhibitions a year with both established and lesser known artists.
