The opening of the southern main railway line in 1856 opened the doors to a bright future for the City of Lund. Industrialization was one of the benefits. Today, Lund is an important hub where the southern railway line and the west coast line meet and through that connect Lund to Sweden’s biggest cities without you having to change trains.
Train traffic to Lund is quite frequent and once you have arrived to the central station you can easily reach many of the sights and hotels in the city. The following companies operate to Lund’s central station – Skånetrafiken, SJ, and Veolia.
Today, Skånetrafiken’s buses and trains are cash-free and you have to have bought tickets beforehand. You can buy your tickets in the ticket machines at the station or at the Skånetrafiken service centre which is also located at the central station. Tickets to SJ’s trains you can buy at their resellers Pressbyrån or 7-Eleven. The travel agency Big Travel also sells SJ tickets.
At the Tourist Office or at Skånetrafiken’s service centre you can also buy 24 hour or 72 hours tickets that is valid all over Scania on both busses and trains.
